Goa has witnessed a gradual rise in the number of drug-related cases being registered over the last five years, with 2025 recording the highest figures so far, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant informed the Goa Assembly.
Replying to questions raised by various opposition MLAs, the Chief Minister shared official data showing a steady upward trend in both cases and arrests from 2021 to 2025.

In 2021, a total of 121 drug-related cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 138 persons. The following year, 2022, saw 154 cases with 190 arrests. In 2023, police registered 140 cases and arrested 166 persons. The numbers rose again in 2024 with 162 cases and 192 arrests across the state.
Last year, in 2025, Goa recorded 163 drug-related cases, with 212 persons being arrested, reflecting both an increase in enforcement action and the continuing challenge of tackling the drug menace.
The Chief Minister said the government has intensified its anti-narcotics अभियान, strengthened inter-agency coordination and enhanced surveillance to curb drug trafficking and protect Goa’s youth, while assuring the House that strict action will continue against those involved in the drug trade.
