Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has announced that a tertiary care cancer facility is currently under construction in Goa and will be ready by the end of 2026, significantly strengthening the state’s cancer treatment infrastructure.
Replying to questions raised by various opposition MLAs during the recent Assembly session, Rane informed the House that at present, cancer patients are receiving surgery, radiation and medical therapy at the Goa Medical College (GMC). The upcoming tertiary care centre will further enhance comprehensive cancer care services within the state.

The minister said the new facility will reduce the need for patients to travel outside Goa for advanced treatment and will provide world-class oncology services under one roof.
The announcement was welcomed across the House as a major boost to healthcare, offering hope and relief to thousands of cancer patients and their families.
