Local residents have alleged that a Delhi-based individual has encroached upon an irrigation department drain at the Chopdem-Agarwada border by constructing an unauthorised structure, severely affecting access to nearby salt pans.
According to locals, officials from the concerned department recently inspected the site and attempted to block the drain after receiving complaints. The drain, which stretches over more than 300 metres, is crucial for water flow and access to the salt pans.
Residents claimed that due to the encroachment, they are now unable to reach the salt pans, directly impacting their livelihood and daily earnings.
They have demanded immediate removal of the illegal structure and restoration of the drain to ensure unobstructed access and proper functioning of the irrigation system. Authorities have been urged to take swift and strict action against those responsible for the encroachment.
