Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Amit Patkar on Wednesday said the BJP should refrain from repeatedly accusing the Congress of being involved in the alleged mining scam of previous years, asserting that leaders who were allegedly named in those cases are today sitting ministers in the BJP government.
Patkar’s remarks came in response to statements made by newly appointed BJP national president Nitin Nabin, who recently accused the Congress of indulging in an alleged ₹35,000-crore mining scam.

Reacting sharply, Patkar said that Nabin may not have been aware that ministers who were allegedly accused in the mining-related cases in the past were present on the very stage from which he made the allegations during his visit to Goa.
“The BJP should first look within before pointing fingers at the Congress,” Patkar said, adding that the party cannot selectively target the Congress while accommodating leaders who were once linked to the same allegations.
He also accused the BJP of indulging in political double standards and using old allegations for electoral gains, instead of addressing current issues affecting the people of Goa.
