US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Monday underscored the strengthening India-US partnership and credited the personal rapport between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump for facilitating the framework of the India-US interim trade agreement announced last week.
Speaking at a reception hosted at his residence in New Delhi, Gor said the Trump administration is closely focused on India and acknowledged that the strong ties between the two leaders played a significant role in advancing the trade understanding.

“I’ve been here just a little over a month, and we hit the ground running. The White House is paying attention to India. Our President is paying attention to India. And thanks to the friendship of President Trump with Prime Minister Modi, we were able to eventually get the trade deal across,” Gor said.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar was also present at the reception, which brought together senior officials and dignitaries, reflecting the growing momentum in bilateral relations between the two countries.
The interim trade agreement framework is seen as an important step towards deepening economic cooperation and further strengthening the comprehensive strategic partnership between India and the United States.
