Delhi Police Register FIR Over Alleged Circulation of Unreleased Book by Former Army Chief MM Naravane

The Delhi Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) following reports that an unpublished book authored by former Army chief General MM Naravane is being circulated and promoted online without mandatory official clearance.

Police officials said they were alerted after social media posts claimed that the book, titled Four Stars of Destiny, was available in digital form despite not having received approval from the competent authorities. A preliminary inquiry found that a PDF version of a typeset manuscript bearing the same title is accessible on certain websites.

Investigators noted that the document appears to have been prepared by Penguin Random House India Pvt. Ltd., although its authenticity is yet to be verified. In addition, some online marketing and retail platforms were found displaying the book’s cover and presenting it in a manner that indicated it was already on sale.

Authorities are treating the matter with seriousness, as it may involve unauthorised dissemination of material linked to a publication that is still pending clearance. Possible violations related to copyright, illegal distribution, and other procedural lapses will be examined during the probe.

Given the sensitivity of the issue, the case has been transferred to the Special Cell of the Delhi Police. Officials said efforts are now underway to trace the source of the alleged leak, identify those responsible for uploading or circulating the manuscript, and determine how the material reached public platforms before receiving formal approval.
