A controversy erupted after a talk show hosted by former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik aired a purported video statement of BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla during discussions around the high-voltage India vs Pakistan clash in the T20 World Cup. The show’s hosts attempted to suggest that the BCCI had repeatedly urged the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to withdraw its proposed boycott of the match.
Introducing the segment, Malik said he would present a clip of Rajeev Shukla addressing the situation. In the video, a voice attributed to Shukla claimed satisfaction over an “amicable solution” reached following ICC-led deliberations and repeated requests from the BCCI to ensure the match went ahead. However, viewers quickly pointed out that the tone and speaking style in the clip appeared noticeably different from Shukla’s known voice, raising suspicions that the footage may have been altered or manipulated, triggering fresh debate online.
