India created history by winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, defeating New Zealand in the final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Following this remarkable achievement, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a massive cash reward of ₹131 crore for the Indian team. This reward broke the board’s previous record and highlighted the significance of India’s title defense in the tournament.
The victory was particularly special because it marked the first time in the history of the T20 World Cup that a team successfully retained the title. Under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, the Indian side displayed exceptional consistency and determination throughout the competition. BCCI’s Record-Breaking Reward Announcement
The ₹131 crore reward announced by the BCCI surpassed the ₹125 crore prize that was given to the team after winning the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in Barbados. The board congratulated the players, support staff, and selectors for their outstanding performance and historic accomplishment.
Apart from the BCCI’s reward, the International Cricket Council (ICC) also granted the Indian team a substantial prize. As the champions of the 2026 tournament, India received USD 3 million (approximately ₹27.48 crore) from the ICC. This amount was part of a record-breaking prize pool of USD 13.5 million for the tournament.
In addition, the team earned performance bonuses of about USD 31,154 (around ₹28.6 lakh) for each match won during the group and Super 8 stages. Overall, India’s victory not only brought global recognition but also significant financial rewards, reflecting the scale and importance of their historic achievement in world cricket.
