Govt Restricts PNG Users from Retaining or Refilling LPG Connections

The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas issued a notification on Saturday, mandating households with Piped Natural Gas (PNG) connections to surrender their domestic LPG subscriptions immediately. This includes stopping all cylinder refills from public oil companies or distributors and banning new LPG connections for PNG users.

The order amends the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order amid global fuel supply chaos from the ongoing West Asia crisis. With Iran tensions escalating, strikes on US bases and war entering week three, LPG stocks face shortages in cities like Mumbai, Chennai, and Bengaluru. Hotels and households report cylinder delays, pushing the government to prioritize PNG infrastructure.
