The Anjuna Police have registered a case against a water sports operator after a tourist from Madhya Pradesh died following a banana ride accident at Anjuna Beach.
Police have booked Domnic Jack D’Souza (55), who allegedly operated the boat “Jack Water Sports” without adhering to prescribed safety norms and in a rash and negligent manner.
According to the police, the incident occurred on March 11 when the banana floater carrying six customers capsized during the ride. One of the tourists, Rajni Sunil Indoliya (36), became unconscious in the water following the mishap.
She was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment but died while being taken for medical care.
Police said a case has been registered and further investigation into the incident is underway. Authorities are also examining whether proper safety measures and operational guidelines for water sports activities were followed at the time of the accident.
