The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused a covert alliance between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress in Ponda, urging voters to reject the BJP in the upcoming by-election. AAP candidate Geetesh Naik, flanked by MLAs Venzy Viegas and Cruz Silva, State President Valmiki Naik, and other senior leaders, spoke to the media outside the Ponda Mamledar office after filing his nomination. MLA Venzy Viegas alleged that the BJP has strategically fielded two candidates, including Ritesh Naik and Bhatikar, the latter having shifted from MGP to Congress. AAP contended that both major parties are more focused on retaining power than addressing Ponda’s pressing local issues. Valmiki Naik highlighted Geetesh Naik’s humble background, portraying him as the sole credible, people-focused candidate capable of continuing the legacy of Ravi Naik and delivering tangible development to Ponda. AAP called on citizens to prioritize effective leadership over political gamesmanship in the by-election.
