Two engineers were injured after a speeding motorcyclist lost control and rammed into them near the Patradevi Toll Booth on Monday.
The injured have been identified as assistant engineer Rohan Calangutkar and junior engineer Gautam Tari, who were reportedly inspecting ongoing work at the toll plaza when the incident occurred.
According to police, the rider, Govind Naik from Sawantwadi, was travelling towards Goa when he lost control of the motorcycle near the toll stretch. The vehicle veered off its lane and crashed into the engineers.
Both injured individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition has not yet been officially disclosed.
Meanwhile, locals have raised concerns about the safety of the stretch, noting that the road widens and then suddenly narrows near the toll booth. They warned that the area has become accident-prone, particularly due to ongoing infrastructure work, and called for urgent corrective measures to prevent further incidents.
