The High Court on Tuesday heard two petitions challenging the by-election scheduled in Ponda on April 9.
The petitioners argued that the by-election is not required, contending that the elected MLA would not complete the mandatory minimum term of one year as prescribed under law.
During the hearing, counsel representing the Election Commission of India and the Chief Electoral Officer sought additional time to file their responses.
The court granted the request and adjourned the matter for further hearing on March 30.
