The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain or drizzle across Delhi on Tuesday, with a generally cloudy sky expected to prevail throughout the day.
According to the weather department, intermittent rainfall activity is likely, particularly during the afternoon or evening hours. The showers may be accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, adding to fluctuating weather conditions in the national capital.
Wind speeds are expected to range between 20–30 kmph, with gusts potentially reaching up to 40 kmph. In view of the changing weather pattern, the IMD had earlier issued a yellow alert for Delhi, cautioning residents about possible thunderstorms and sudden weather shifts.
The advisory follows a spell of rain and strong winds that lashed Delhi and adjoining areas on Monday. While initial forecasts had predicted light showers, the situation intensified, prompting the IMD to upgrade its warning from yellow to an orange alert. The higher alert indicated the possibility of moderate rainfall, lightning, and stronger gusty winds, and remained in effect until 6 p.m. on Monday.
