No Development Within 200m of Bondvoll Lake: TCP Board Decision Hailed as Victory by Santa Cruz Residents

The Town and Country Planning Board has announced that no development permissions or technical clearances will be granted within 200 metres of Bondvoll Lake until the buffer zone and zone of influence are re-demarcated by the Wetland Authority of Goa.

Welcoming the decision, Inacio Domnic Pereira termed it a major victory for the people of the Santa Cruz constituency, who have been advocating for the protection of the ecologically sensitive lake.

He also acknowledged the support of Fr Richard Pinheiro and local residents, whose collective efforts played a key role in safeguarding the wetland.

Pereira added that the fight to protect Bondvoll Lake will continue, stressing the importance of preserving Goa’s natural ecosystems amid growing development pressures.
