Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that any decision regarding ending the ongoing conflict involving United States and Israel will be taken strictly in line with Iran’s national interests.
The Iranian President emphasised that any resolution must safeguard the country’s dignity, security, and strategic priorities, underlining Tehran’s firm stance amid ongoing tensions.
His remarks come amid reports that Donald Trump has conveyed to aides a willingness to end the US military campaign against Iran, even if the critical Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed.
Earlier, Washington had proposed a 15-point framework to Iran, which included a key demand that the Strait of Hormuz should not be under Iranian control and must remain open for global shipping. Iran, however, responded with five conditions that reportedly contradicted several elements of the proposal.
Trump’s reported shift in position—indicating openness to ending the conflict despite the possible closure of the Strait—marks a significant change in the US approach, given the waterway’s importance to global energy trade.
The evolving diplomatic signals from both sides suggest a potential opening for negotiations, though key differences remain unresolved.
