By afternoon, groups of villagers began gathering, many carrying flowers, oth ers holding hastily made placards. Their destination was the residence of the ac cused. There, without con frontation or raised voices, they laid down flowers and messages — Justice for Teer — transforming the space into a site of quiet protest. According to reports, the stray dog was allegedly beaten to death by a local resident and later dumped. For many in Camurlim, Teer was not just another stray but a familiar presence. Animal lover Malika Deb also raised her voice against the incident, urging authorities to take imme diate and firm action.

She emphasised the need for stricter enforcement of laws to prevent cruelty against animals. Even as the protest re mained peaceful, tension lingered in the air. Residents spoke in hushed tones, but their message was une quivocal — this could not be allowed to pass without consequence. Locals have called on law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough inves tigation and take stringent action against those respon sible, warning that such in cidents cannot be tolerated in society. For Camurlim, the killing of Teer has become more than a stray act of cruelty. It has brought a community together in grief, and in a shared demand for justice.
