Curtorim MLA Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco stated that these issues were discussed before the Power Department’s Chief Engineer who gave an assurance that these faults are being looked into so that they don’t reoccur.

Regarding the power failure during last week’s Good Friday service, it was revealed that a jumper had malfunctioned and by the time this fault was rectified, the Mass was over. “The power supply was restored thereafter,” said the engineer.

Lourenco added that the much-needed underground cabling work will also be carried out in the constituency in two phases and that Rs 44 crore had been sanctioned for Phase I of the project. He added that the work order for the first phase would be sanctioned by the end of May.
