Speaking to SportsTak, Yuvraj made it clear that he does not share his father’s views and has already addressed the matter with him. He stressed that such comments are inappropriate and unfair, especially given the immense contributions both Kapil and Dhoni have made to Indian cricket.

“I would like to apologise to Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni for these comments. I told my dad it’s not okay,” Yuvraj said. He added that while he is unaware of the exact issue between his father and Kapil Dev, he has always maintained a respectful and professional relationship with Dhoni throughout his playing career.

Yuvraj also highlighted that statements made by his father tend to reflect on him, which is why he felt the need to publicly distance himself from those remarks. He emphasised that he holds both legends in high regard and appreciates their service to the country.

“I sincerely apologise to both of them. They know those words are not mine,” he added.
