Multiple emails threatening a bomb attack at the Gas Turbine Research Establishment, a key laboratory under the Defence Research and Development Organisation, triggered a major security response on Monday.
According to police, the facility, located within the jurisdiction of the Byappanahalli police station, was immediately evacuated after the threat was received. Teams from the bomb disposal squad and fire services conducted a comprehensive search of the premises.
Following the extensive operation, officials confirmed that no explosives were found and the threat was ultimately declared a hoax.
Authorities said the email, written in Tamil, claimed that Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) had been planted inside the facility and would detonate around 1:30 pm.
In addition to the bomb threat, the sender also issued a warning about the alleged kidnapping of the grandson of an influential politician from Tamil Nadu, officials added.
Police have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the email and identify those responsible for the false alarm.
