Mamata Banerjee Alleges ‘Pahalgam-Like Attack Blueprint’, Bharatiya Janata Party Hits Back

In a sharp political escalation ahead of elections, Mamata Banerjee, leader of the All India Trinamool Congress, has stirred controversy by questioning whether the Bharatiya Janata Party has a “blueprint ready” for “another Pahalgam-like attack” before polling.

Addressing a public meeting in Bethuadahari, Banerjee referred to remarks by Khwaja Asif, who allegedly threatened to target Kolkata. She questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who recently addressed a rally in Cooch Behar, did not respond to the statement.

“Pakistan’s defence minister said they will target Kolkata. Why didn’t Narendra Modi say we will take strong action? What is the reason? Blueprint ready? Another Pahalgam before the election?” Banerjee said during her speech.

The BJP strongly condemned the remarks, accusing the Trinamool Congress chief of attempting to polarise voters. Party leaders alleged that the statement was aimed at appeasing minority communities and described the ruling party in West Bengal as “anti-Hindu”.

The exchange has intensified political tensions in the state, with both parties trading accusations as campaigning gathers momentum ahead of the polls.
