Viriato Fernandes Alleges Contaminated Water Supply, Demands Probe into PWD and Builders

South Goa MP Viriato Fernandes has raised serious concerns over the state’s drinking water quality, alleging that contaminated borewell water is being mixed with the public supply despite a reported clean chit to the Public Works Department (PWD) water division.

Questioning the government’s oversight, Fernandes criticised authorities for what he described as a complete failure of multiple departments in ensuring safe drinking water. He asked who would be held accountable for monitoring contamination and safeguarding public health.

The MP further demanded a thorough inquiry into the matter, including an investigation into alleged financial dealings between government departments and Prabhu Builders. He called for transparency to determine whether any monetary benefits were exchanged.

Fernandes emphasised the need for urgent action to address potential health risks and restore public confidence in the water supply system, stating that accountability must be fixed at all levels.
