Goa to Release Draft AI Policy on May 4; Mulls Social Media Curbs for Under-16 Users

The Goa government is set to roll out its draft Artificial Intelligence Policy for public feedback from May 4, inviting suggestions from citizens, students, experts, and industry stakeholders over a 15‑day window through the state portal and the IT Department website.

IT Minister state that the final AI policy will be implemented within 100 days of approval, aiming to position Goa as an innovation‑friendly hub for AI‑driven governance and industry.

In a parallel move, the State has also finalised a proposal to restrict social media use for children under 16, targeting platforms like Instagram and Facebook amid growing concerns over student safety and mental health.

The U‑16 curbs plan will first be submitted to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant before being forwarded to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw for national consideration.
