MEA Dismisses UAE Evacuation Report as ‘Fake News’

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Monday rejected reports claiming that India and the UAE were working on an evacuation plan for Indian workers through Fujairah port amid rising tensions in West Asia. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal clarified that there was “no basis” for such claims and stressed that there is currently no plan to evacuate Indian nationals from either Fujairah or the UAE.

The clarification came after a media report suggested that India was coordinating with UAE authorities for a possible evacuation operation. Responding during an inter-ministerial briefing, Jaiswal urged people to refer to the MEA FactCheck account, which had already labelled the report as “fake news”.

The MEA FactCheck team also posted on X, stating that no evacuation was being planned and advising citizens to remain cautious against false and misleading information circulating online.

Meanwhile, the ministry also addressed questions regarding the upcoming BRICS foreign ministers’ meeting to be held in New Delhi under India’s chairmanship. Jaiswal said foreign ministers from BRICS member nations and partner countries are expected to attend.

India further reiterated its consistent stand on the ongoing West Asia conflict, emphasising that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only path towards restoring peace and stability in the region.
