Mohsin Naqvi has reportedly been invited to attend the ICC Chief Executives’ Committee meeting scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on May 30 and 31, though uncertainty remains over whether the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman will travel to India amid continuing geopolitical tensions between the two countries.
According to reports, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to take the final decision on Naqvi’s visit due to the diplomatic sensitivity surrounding the matter.

The meeting’s final day coincides with the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Reports suggest Naqvi has received an official invitation for the event, though he has not independently confirmed his participation yet.
Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister, has remained at the centre of controversy since the Asia Cup last year. He had refused to hand over the Asia Cup trophy and medals to India after the tournament, leading to tensions between the PCB and the BCCI.
Reports claimed the silverware has remained locked in Naqvi’s office in Dubai, where he also serves as chairman of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). Despite repeated efforts by the BCCI to resolve the matter, no breakthrough has been achieved so far.
Relations between Indian and Pakistani cricket boards have remained strained for years. India have not travelled to Pakistan for bilateral cricket since the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks and have consistently opted to play ICC tournaments involving Pakistan at neutral venues.
Similar arrangements were made for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Women’s World Cup 2025 and Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 amid ongoing political tensions between the neighbouring countries.
