Deepak Dhavalikar, president of the Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP), has indicated that elections for the vacant Ponda Assembly constituency could take place earlier than expected, possibly within the next few months.
Speaking to the media, Dhavalikar said that the Ponda seat cannot remain vacant for a long period, although he clarified that no official decision regarding the election schedule has been announced so far.

He further stated that the MGP-led alliance, or “yuti,” would collectively decide the future political course of action concerning the constituency.
Commenting on the reservation issue linked to the Priol Assembly constituency, Dhavalikar said that even if reservation is implemented following the passage of the reservation bill, it would not weaken his claim or association with the constituency.
However, he emphasised that the final decision taken by the alliance would remain significant in determining the political strategy ahead of the elections.
