Dispute over drying clothes sparks late-night fight between Hyderabad families

A seemingly minor disagreement between two neighbouring families in Hyderabad escalated into a physical altercation late on Sunday night, prompting police intervention and heightened security in the area.

According to officials, the dispute began when one family objected to water dripping from clothes hung out to dry by their neighbours. What started as a verbal argument soon turned into a heated confrontation, with members of both households exchanging accusations. The situation worsened when some individuals allegedly assaulted members of the other family.

Concerned residents alerted the police as tensions grew in the locality. Acting swiftly, police teams led by DCP Charminar Kiran Khare Prabhakar reached the spot along with additional personnel to prevent the situation from escalating further.

Authorities said the situation was quickly brought under control and peace was restored. The DCP assured residents that there was no cause for concern and urged people not to believe rumours circulating on social media.

Police also warned against sharing unverified videos, photographs or messages related to the incident, stating that such content could create unnecessary panic and disturb communal harmony. Officials stressed that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found spreading misinformation or attempting to disrupt law and order.

A case has been registered based on complaints received from the families involved. Investigators are currently recording statements and examining the circumstances that led to the clash.

As a precautionary measure, additional police personnel were deployed in the area. Authorities confirmed that normalcy had returned by Monday and that daily activities were continuing without any disruption.
