Telaulim Residents Gherao Electricity Department Official Over Smart Meters and Rising Power Bills

Margao: Residents of Telaulim in the Navelim constituency staged a protest at the Aquem Power House on Tuesday, gheraoing the Superintendent Engineer of the Electricity Department over the installation of smart meters and the recent increase in electricity bills.

The protesters voiced strong concerns over escalating power charges and alleged that the introduction of smart meters could lead to an additional financial burden on consumers. They demanded greater clarity on the billing mechanism and sought assurances that the new metering system would not result in inflated electricity bills.
