A joint site inspection of the SGPDA Retail Market was carried out by the Consumer Conciliation Committee in collaboration with officials from the SGPDA, Goa State Pollution Control Board, Health Department, Public Works Department (PWD), and Margao Municipal Council (MMC).
During the inspection, the team observed several violations and shortcomings concerning the maintenance and management of the market premises. The issues identified included deficiencies in sanitation, infrastructure, and the overall upkeep of the facility, raising concerns over conditions for both vendors and consumers.

Speaking to the media after the inspection, consumer activist Roland Martins said that the observations and findings would be compiled into a comprehensive report to be submitted before the upcoming court hearing related to the matter.
Martins stressed the need for the concerned authorities to take prompt corrective measures to address the identified deficiencies and ensure that the market is maintained in a hygienic, safe, and functional condition for the benefit of traders and the general public.
The inspection forms part of ongoing efforts to improve civic infrastructure and ensure compliance with public health and safety standards at one of South Goa’s key retail markets.
