The Central Government has revised passport application charges by amending the Passports Rules, 1980, increasing fees for both regular passport services and the Tatkal scheme. The revised rates will come into effect from July 1.
Under the new fee structure, applicants seeking a fresh passport or the reissue of a 36-page passport will have to pay Rs 2,500, up from the existing Rs 1,500. The fee for obtaining the same passport under the Tatkal scheme has also been increased from Rs 3,500 to Rs 5,000.

For a 60-page passport, the application fee for a fresh issue or reissue has been raised from Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,500. Applicants opting for the Tatkal service will now be required to pay Rs 6,000, compared to the earlier fee of Rs 4,000.
The revised charges are part of the government’s amendments to the Passports Rules, 1980, and will apply to all passport applications submitted on or after July 1.
