A tense situation unfolded in Maharashtra’s Dodamarg after a youth from Goa allegedly attempted to attack two local youths with a knife near the market area, sparking fresh concerns over public safety.
According to available information, the incident occurred inside a building under construction near the Dodamarg market. The accused youth had reportedly arrived at the location in a Goa-registered car along with a young woman.

Suspicion arose when two local youths questioned the pair over their presence at the site. An argument allegedly followed, during which the accused is said to have pulled out a knife and attempted to assault the two men.
One of the alleged victims is reportedly the brother of Dodamarg Chairperson Chetan Chavan, while another local youth was also targeted during the incident. The entire episode was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed in the vicinity.
The incident has triggered concern among residents, as it is the second serious law-and-order incident reported in Dodamarg on a Sunday.
Locals have demanded that the youth and the woman accompanying him be traced at the earliest and that strict legal action be taken against those responsible. They have also called on authorities to strengthen weekend police patrolling, conduct regular vehicle checks (nakabandi), and maintain heightened surveillance on visitors entering the area from Goa.
Police are expected to investigate the matter based on CCTV footage and other available evidence.
