Rohit Sharma’s international career could be nearing its end, with a report claiming the third ODI against England at Lord’s may be his farewell match. The Indian Express reported that the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel has informed the former India captain that he is not part of the team’s plans after the current series.
The selectors are understood to be looking ahead to the 2027 ODI World Cup and want to give Yashasvi Jaiswal a regular opportunity in the squad. Although Rohit reportedly wished to continue after working on his fitness, the decision on retirement has been left to him.
Having already retired from T20Is and Test cricket, ODIs remain Rohit’s only international format. He has managed scores of 11 and 26 in the ongoing England series after leading India to the 2025 Champions Trophy title.
