Latambarcem Panchayat Sarpanch Rama Gaonkar and local villagers have opposed permissions granted to the Siddhagiri Gurukul Trust, alleging that construction work is continuing despite earlier action by the panchayat and pending legal proceedings.
Residents claim the panchayat had issued demolition notices against certain structures, while related cases are still pending before the Deputy Director’s Court.

The villagers have also alleged that traditional roads and pathways have been blocked by compound walls. They further claimed that some landowners received very low compensation for their land.
The protesters questioned the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board and the state government over the project clearances despite their objections. They demanded that their concerns be addressed and that the authority of the Latambarcem Panchayat be respected in the matter.
