The Empowerment Council of Kshatriya Maratha Samaj, Goa, submitted a representation to Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar on Friday over the “Thapa to Tari” name and surname change issue.
The council urged the minister to take up the matter with the concerned authorities and initiate necessary action to safeguard the identity, rights and interests of members of the affected community.

Members of the delegation expressed hope that Halarnkar would intervene positively and help facilitate an early resolution to the matter.
