PANJIM: The Film Finance Action Committee (FFAC) has demanded legislation to force theatres in Goa to make available their auditoriums to screen Konkani films.
A FFAC delegation met Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Tuesday and discussed various issues concerning the film industry in Goa and for the upliftment of filmmakers. The Chief Minister was made aware that theatres in Goa do not screen Konkani films.
The delegation demanded a legislation that would make it mandatory for theatres to screen at least one local film daily at the prime time between 6 pm and 7 pm and additional slots could be made available on an understanding between producers and theatre owners at concessional rates.
FFAC also demanded that the Goa Film Finance Scheme be restarted and a budgetary provision made. The Film Finance Scheme for Goan films had not yet been notified though it was started earlier but has been suspended for the past few years.
The delegation also sought shooting locations at nominal rates and a single window system for permissions. “We would request that the charges be collected by ESG at one point and no other department shall demand additional payments and all permissions to be issued by the ESG at one point,” the representation to the chief minister says.
FFAC also demanded that theatres be constructed on par with the Ravindra Bhavan in other parts of the State with seating arrangement of around 300 seats as the Ravindra Bhavans are also used for other cultural functions.
