NEW DELHI: A letter received by post from a concerned villager from Nerul village in the National Green Tribunal headquarters here was turned into a petition and admitted on Monday for hearing by the two member Western Zone Bench headed by Justice V R Kingaonkar at Pune. Dr Ajay Deshpande is the other tribunal member, as an expert.
The Bench ordered that notices be issued to Pratibha Kudchadkar of Curchorem, the North Goa collector, Mapusa Block Development Officer and Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) to appear before it at the next hearing on October 9.
It also ordered a notice to Nerul sarpanch to appear on the scheduled date and to put the notice on the panchayat notice board, calling upon the concerned villagers to approach the tribunal’s Pune Bench on the scheduled date.
“It may also be informed that if they are not in a position to engage any lawyer, this Tribunal may appoint a lawyer to appear on their behalf,” the order added.
