MARGAO: A four-goal blitz including hat-trick by Leander D’Cunha helped Cuncolim Union thump St Sebastian, Aquem 8-0 to move into the quarter-finals of GFA Third Division play-off (Salcete Zone) at DYSA ground, Curtorim, on Saturday.
Cuncolim Union led 4-0 at the half time.
It was a one-sided affair as Cuncolim Union tormented the rival defence with well orchestrated raids. At the other hand, St Sebastian were struggling to contain the rival marauding forwards.
Leander opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Seven minutes later, Leander doubled the lead.
Daulat Dessai, who had a good game, inflated the tally in the 23rd and 43rd minutes to complete his brace.
The second half did not bring any relief to St Sebastian as Cuncolim Union demolished rival fragile defence with sharp raids. Leander registered his hat-trick in the 53rd minute when he punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Cliffton Fernandes added his name on the scorer list when he slotted past the rival goalkeeper with snap shot. Leander inflated the tally in the 83rd minute and Valky Fernandes rounded off the tally at the stroke of final whistle.
In another match, ICSC, Paroda outplayed Pax of Nagoa 3-0.
