PANJIM: The Southwest monsoon withdrawal over Goa coast is expected around October 23, almost ten days after its normal withdrawal date of October 14.
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa Observatory has said that the conditions have become favourable for withdrawal of monsoon from entire Goa by around October 23.

However, because of the interaction between low-level westerly and easterly winds, there is likelihood of cloudy conditions with light rains and thundershowers on October 22 and 23.
IMD Goa in-charge Rahul informed that conditions have become favourable for further withdrawal of monsoon from remaining parts of Northeast India, entire Goa, come parts of central Arabian Sea, along with other places by around October 23.
The normal date of monsoon withdrawal for the State is October 14, considering that withdrawal starts from Northwest India by September 17. However, the same has commenced from Wednesday, October 6.
The withdrawal is also expected from entire North Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of west Bengal, some parts of central bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Odisha, some parts of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and some parts of Karnataka.
The official monsoon season ended on September 30 with six per cent excess rains.
State recorded 123.5 inches (3,137mm) of rainfall as against the normal average of 116.7 inches (2,965mm).
State has received around 73 per cent of excess post monsoon rains so far.
