MARGAO: Fire fighters on Monday rescued a woman who found herself trapped in an elevator of the old Collectorate building, Margao for several hours.
According to firemen Gil Souza, 65-year-old Philomena Fernandes, got trapped in the elevator at around 12 30 pm and hours later she was rescued by the fire fighters. The firemen were surprised over the calmness on the part of the senior citizen. Souza further said the woman called her family members, who later informed the Margao fire services personnel about the incident. The elevator developed a technical snag and suddenly stopped working. “Since there is no one in the building to whom one can contact during emergency, it is necessary to shut down this unsafe lift immediately” Souza added.
