BICHOLIM: Sakshi Kale, a champion para-athlete and youth icon, clinched first place in the women’s 10 km category of the ‘Republic Run’ 2025. The event, organised by the Lions Club of Bicholim and supported by Vedanta Sesa Goa, was held to mark National Youth Day.
Ankita Gaonkar and Lavina Lobo secured the second and third spots, respectively, in the women’s 10 km race. In the men’s 10 km category, Suraj Velip emerged victorious, followed by Udesh Majik and Ganesh Tambuskar.
Over 800 participants competed across three categories: a 2 km run for children aged 8-13 years, a 3.5 km open run for ages above 13, and a 10 km open race. Among the youngest runners, Shaoumik Gad and Shreeja Naik claimed top honours in the 2 km category.
