My visits to Salcete is for development: Dr sawant

Asserts is committed to taking forward Parrikar’s legacy

MARGAO: Asserting that he is committed to taking forward Manohar Parrikar’s legacy, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said he would prefer to call his back to back visits to Salcete as “Salcete Development” instead of “Mission Salcete”.
Initially, he quipped that there was no need for a ‘Mission Salcete’ as “people of Salcete are already with the Bharatiya Janata Party” and admitted that he is reaping the benefits of the good work done by his predecessor.
However, later speaking to media persons he said he would prefer to call it “Salcete Development” and added that he wanted to highlight the projects that would be completed in the next two and a half years.
Dr Sawant visited Nuvem on Sunday afternoon and inspected the various ongoing works in the village.
He directed PWD officials to study the traffic movement and accordingly plan for the Eastern bypass connecting to the new National Highway, besides, beautifying and developing the junction near Rajee Motors which will become only an internal road once the new highway is commissioned.
The chief minister then proceeded to Verna where he met the panchayat members of all the villages of Verna assembly constituency and listened to their grievances.
It would be pertinent to point out that on Saturday evening the chief minister visited Curtorim to inspect the health centre and assured the people that they will get a new building for the health centre as the present one is in a bad condition.
At around 9 pm Dr Sawant met Curtorim and Camurlim sarpanchas along with Curtorim ZP member at the residence of Dr Ernesto Rodrigues where other panchayat members of Curtorim were present and discussed with them development works in the constituency.
