PANJIM: Leon Mendonca lost to Arya Bhakta in the sixth round in the ongoing Under-7 National chess tournament in Pune, Saturday.
Leon is currently on five points and in the fifth spot. Earlier in the fifth round he defeated Vallabh Kavi of Maharashtra. On Sunday he will face Kumbakonam Vedant P of Tamil Nadu.
Meanwhile, Suyash Pai is on four points while Pratik Borkar is on two points. Vernon Colaso is on 1.5 points.
In the girls section, Sanvi Naik Gaonkar won both her matches on Saturday and is on four points. Stuti Pai is on two points while Alaya D’Cruz has 2.5 points.
