MARGAO: Ambelim Sports Club moved into the semi-finals with an 4-3 win over St. Anthony Sports Club, Colvain in the Dr Maximo Menezes Memorial Soccer Inter Village Tournament organized by Goa Velha Sports Club at Goa Velha ground on Wednesday.
Ambelim Sports Club shot into an early lead as Blasco Fernandes crossed the ball from the right and Samson Simoes shot into the goal past St. Anthony keeper Neljear Costa.
Samson Simoes increased the lead for Ambelim Sports Club as he dispossessed St. Anthony defender Romario Fernandes and placed the ball into the St. Anthony goal.
Niall Cardozo made it 3-0 for Ambelim SC as he dribbled past the porous St. Anthony defence and placed the ball past the St. Anthony keeper Neljear.
St. Anthony Sports Club settled down and came close to scoring but Joel Rodrigues headed wide from close range of Ronnie Fernandes. A pile driver from Dhillon Fernandes of St. Anthony was kept out by Ambelim keeper Premson Fernandes.
Ryan Fernandes reduced the margin for St. Anthony Sports Club, Colva after beating the Ambelim defence and placing the ball past Premson Fernandes in the Ambelim goal.
At half time, Ambelim Sports Club were leading 3-1.
Mennion Hillario further reduced the margin for St. Anthony SC to make it 2-3 as his cross from the left was misjudged by the Ambelim keeper Premson Fernandes and the ball dipped into the Ambelim goal.
Maxson Fernandes scored the third goal for St. Anthony SC to make it 3-3 as he headed home off a free kick by Herculano Crasto.
However, at the fag end of the match Donald Rocha headed in from close range to make it 4-3 in favour of Ambelim Sports Club.
