PANJIM: The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has directed the Goa Police to follow proper legal procedures while questioning the kin of history-sheeter Zenito Cardozo, who is wanted in the St Cruz shootout case.
Close relatives of Cardozo had last week filed a complaint before the Commission alleging harassment by police in the name of investigation. The Commission has then issued notices to Superintendent of Police North Utkrisht Prasoon, Old Goa Police Station Police Inspector Krishna Sinari and Calangute Police Station Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo seeking reply.
When the matter came up for hearing on Monday, the respondents sought time to file reply.
Counsel for the complainant Vahida Yalgar said the Commission directed the officers to not harass the complainants unnecessarily and to adhere to provisions of law in case police wants to call them for investigation.
The matter is now fixed for reply on August 12.
