Forest officials succeeded in rescuing the trapped Bison after a three-hour operation and left the animal to return to its natural habitat.
According to reports, residents were taken by surprise to see the giant Bison in a water tank at a cashew plantation near the Ghoteli temple. The news spread like wildfire and villagers rushed to the site to catch a glimpse of the trapped animal.
Forest officials, including Regional Forest Officer Anil Shetgaokar, Paresh Parab, Deepak Betkikar, Tulshidas Wadkar along with forest guards and Animal Rescue Squad member Amrut Singh rushed to the site.
They lowered mud bags and branches into the water tank to enable the bison climb up to the surface and run into the forest.
Incidentally, locals have been complaining that Bison have been straying into heavily populated areas and have destroyed agricultural fields and plantations.
