MARGAO: Paul Masefield, former English football player and expert ESPN football analyst on EPL matches will conduct a clinic for coaches and young footballers under KOOH Sports Football Development Centres in association with Salcete Grassroots Football Development Programme on July 30 at Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, from 4 to 6 p.m.
Paul, who is the technical director of KOOH Football Development Centres, is a former English football right-back, having donned colours for Birmingham City before moving to Asia and playing in local Asian Leagues. With his enormous expertise in football, he is currently helping KOOH, a sports firm based in Mumbai, dedicated to impart sports education in India, to ultimately set up football academies, being involved in the ideation and development of the programme across the centres.
Paul has coached for Singapore Coaching School, Sing Tao Club Hong Kong, Limerick Town Football Club, Preston North End, Stockport County, Birmingham City, having qualified in English Football Association Professional Football management course and awarded the English FA advanced coaching award. He is currently handling multiple projects in Malaysia. As the managing director of Little League Soccer and Mustang Football Club at Turf City, Paul is handling both companies. He co-founded The Premier Pitch and is conceptualizing a Turf City Junior Soccer League again in Malaysia.
The Salcete Grassroots Football Developemnt Programme launched in April 2013 with 9 centres, has close to 300 boys and girls with 20 coaches imparting the specially devised curriculum under the guidance of India coaches Savio Medeira, Brahmanand Shankwalkar, Armando Colaco, Mauricio Afonso and Marcus Pacheco.
The programme in Goa, the first of its kind, will have a clinic for coaches from 4 to 5 p.m., practical session with children from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by photo session and media interaction. Coaches and children undergoing training under the Salcete Football Development Programme including parents will attend the programme. Others interested may also attend the clinic.
