PANJIM: South Goa Superintendent of Police (SP) Sunita Sawant has been selected for President’s medal for distinguished service, while Head Constable Damodar Mayekar has been selected for the medal for meritorious service.

Sawant has been honoured for her distinguished service to the Goa Police Department and society. She felt extremely proud that her passion for policing has finally been recognised.
Sawant who has put in 34 years of service in the Goa Police Department, believes that one has to do work with honesty and integrity. She was promoted in 2022 and was posted as South SP in February this year.
The total of 1,037 personnel of Police, Fire, Home Guard and Civil Defence (HG&CD) and Correctional Services have been awarded Gallantry and Service Medals on the occasion of the Independence Day, 2024.
