PONDA: A bar and restaurant was totally damaged at 4 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday when a container truck rammed into the structure after the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The accident occurred at Kapileshwarim junction on Dhavlim-Farmagudi bypass road, when Dattaram Patil (47) lost control of his vehicle after jumping over a speed-breaker. The vehicle veered off the road flying almost two feet high and rammed into Sai Sparsha Bar and Restaurant.
Restaurant owner Sampraj Mule said that the loss would run into lakhs of rupees as the benches, walls, roof and pillars of restaurant came crumbling down in the incident. He said that two of his employees who were sleeping inside the Restaurant escaped without injuries.
The driver and two other occupants of the vehicle suffered minor injuries. The driver reportedly jumped out of the truck as soon as he lost control of the same.
