GRE to oppose demolition of fishermen structures at Baina

VASCO: All the 12 traditional fishermen community associations under the banner of Goenchea Ramponkaranchea Ekvott (GRE) have unanimously resolved to oppose aggressively any attempt of State administration to demolish traditional fishermen community structures at Baina.

VASCO: All the 12 traditional fishermen community associations under the banner of Goenchea Ramponkaranchea Ekvott (GRE) have unanimously resolved to oppose aggressively any attempt of State administration to demolish traditional fishermen community structures at Baina. 
It was also resolved to oppose the proposed dredging of Zuari and Mandovi rivers, besides satellite port at Betul in South Goa, proposed by Mormugao Port Trust (MPT). Several other crucial decisions were taken during the emergency meeting called by GRE and attended by members of all traditional fishermen associations at Velsao, on Sunday.
The issue of GCZMA notice to 121 structures at Baina dominated the meeting. 
Lambasting the government, the GRE further resolved that, each and every member from different traditional fishermen community association would stand by the fishermen community from Baina and would not allow the government to demolish even one structure belonging to fishermen community. 
“We are all prepared to oppose the demolition at Baina unitedly. If required, we won’t even hesitate to shed our blood; but any attempt of demolition would not be allowed, and we would retaliate this time very aggressively,” said National Fishworkers’ Forum Secretary and Goenchea Ramponkaranchea Ekvott Joint General Secretary Olencio Simoes.
The members also resolved to oppose the proposed dredging of Zuari and Mandovi rivers and a satellite port at Betul proposed by the MPT, by coming out on streets.
