Health issue kept Cortalim MLA from voting on linear projects

VASCO: Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha on Tuesday cited health reasons for her remaining absent at the voting on three linear projects during recent concluded Assembly session.

Speaking to the reporters, the MLA said whether she voted or not on the projects in the Assembly doesn’t change her commitment towards opposing doubling of railway track.

Saldanha informed that during the Assembly session when the time came to vote on three linear projects, she had to rush to the doctor as she was feeling unwell and the voting was done by the time she returned.

“I am with the people and my stand on double tracking issue will remain same. I am against double tracking because it will bring destruction to South Goa and its people,” says Saldanha.

Meanwhile, when Nuvem MLA Wilfred D’Sa, who was present during the launch of road hot mixing was asked why he abstained from voting on three linear projects, he said it was because of whip issued by his party.

He mentioned that some 15 to 17 people from his constituency quizzed him as to why he abstained from voting to which the MLA replied that he has signed a whip and therefore he has to remain with the party.
